'The world of Anne' by L.M Montgomery

'My name is Anne Shirley, Anne spelled with an 'E'.....

That's how she would always addressed herself to others.

The world of Anne was one of my childhood favourites and still is. It's a story of romance, fidelity, perseverance and friendships, that will sweep off your feet and be mesmerised with the beauty of Prince Edward Island in Canada.

Written by Lucy Maud Montgomery, she has brought Anne to a very long journey of eight series. I've only managed to read up until Anne of Ingleside, whereby she's married to her childhood sweetheart, Gilbert Blythe and started a new life at their new home. I managed to get hold of the books while I was 14 from Penampang Library which they only kept six series of Anne, which I think the best series of Anne as for the other two series were about her children.

Anne character came to a drama series brought by Kevin Sullivan, a Canadian movie producer in 1985. Anne (as in my sister) and I (was only eight that time) would eagerly wait for the series which they aired on weekdays by RTM2. We've laughed , cried and be swept away in the world of Anne. Then when we are about to sleep, we would talked about how we wish to live in Prince Edward Island. And I remembered, how my sister felt very proud that her she was called Anne and spelled with an 'e' , despite the fact that her fullname is Marianne. I would envy with her and wished that I was called Anne Shirley. That's how we were so madly in love with the world of Anne especially with her love affair to Gilbert Blythe. However, the series only lasted until Anne of Green Gables , The Sequel. We never get to see Anne & Gilbert got married.

On my recent trip to Chicago, I stumbled across with Anne of Green Gables DVD collection with the last part , The Continuing Story and some bonus features. I was too happy to describe my feeling, as if I have found my long lost love. When I was berskype with my sister, I told her what I've found, both of us were screaming of excitement. So the next trip I'm back in KK, we would be in 'Anne' fever with another round of tears and laughter. And finally to see a happy ending of our favourite love literature of all time. To be honest to my darling sister, the excitement had lead me to watch the whole series. But then I don't mind watching it over and over again with you as it brings lots and lots of our silly memories. Like we used to say, you will always be my 'bosom' friend.

You may get Anne of Green Gables DVD series from Sullivan Boutique or Amazon. As for the series of books, I've found a better deal from Amazon as it comes as a collection of eight series but you have to wait for a longer time for delivery.

Green Gables of Prince Edward Island is one the most visited place in the island. And up till today the home of Marilla & Matthew Cuthbert which was used for the filming, has become a museum ever since. Even the Haunted woods and Balsam Hollow as described in the book are open for visitors for a stroll. I'm very determined to visit the island especially during the spring or summer,and hopefully I don't have to wait very long ;-p

Then my love for the world of Anne would be complete ;-p
